  19.        This patch contains bug fixes for IRIS Token Ring (version
  20.        1021572033 ) on a system running IRIX 5.3 (versions
  21.        1021572036).  The software cannot be installed on other
  22.        configurations.

  26.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  27.        5.3.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system
  28.        are included for reference.

  30.           +o On a rare race condition, llc2.a could cause kernel
  31.             panic (BUG# 265294.)  When it happens, it dies at
  32.             llc2_wput() routine.
  33.  
  34.           +o Netsnoop crashed kernel on VME token ring interface,
  35.             if_fv (BUG# 265316.)  Promiscuous mode is not supported
  36.             in the driver. The use of promiscuous mode is now
  37.             turned off.
  38.  
  39.           +o Token Ring driver and DLPI driver not properly
  40.             receiving SNAP packets (BUG# 294316.)
  41.  
  42.           +o Token Ring driver may crash the system while idle state
  43.             (BUG# 296164.)

  76.        Because you want to install only the patches for problems
  77.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  78.        default.  After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed
  79.        in this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
  80.        meet your specific needs.

  82.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  83.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  84.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  85.        _i_n_s_t.  The _i_n_s_t program does not allow you to install
  86.        patches that are incompatible with your hardware or
  87.        software.

  89.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  90.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  91.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  92.        form of the software installation tools.

  94.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  96.          1.  At the Inst> prompt, type

  107.              incompatible.  (The installation tools reject an
  108.              installation request if an incompatibility is
  109.              detected.)  If this occurs, you must deselect one of

  142.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  143.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  144.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  145.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
